Hey Scarborough! Here's what's happening this week π
The rumour that M&S was closing its Scarborough store spread fast over the bank holiday - fast enough to rack up more than 300 comments before the company confirmed that the Newborough store isn't going anywhere. The relief was real and understandable. Scarborough already has the highest town centre vacancy rate in the county at 18.6 per cent, and another empty unit on that stretch would have been hard to look at.
On the subject of what is and isn't coming to town, the proposed Aldi on Cayton Low Road is back on track after a demolition dispute was resolved in March. Of the 255 responses submitted during consultation, 94 per cent were in favour, which is about as clear a verdict as planning processes tend to produce.
Meanwhile, South Bay has been handed a Brown Flag for poor water quality - billed by its creators as the Oscars of the sewage world. Five per cent of England's bathing waters share the same rating, which is either reassuring or not, depending on your plans for the summer.
If you're thinking about getting away rather than getting in, Sant Francesc Hotel Singular in Palma offers rooftop pool views over the old town - use code SUNNYPALMA for a discount on stays of two nights or more.

The Collagen Your Morning Routine Has Been Missing
Most collagen supplements deliver on one promise. Carrara delivers on five.
Pique's Carrara Marine Collagen combines Type I marine collagen for visible skin radiance with rare Type II collagen from wild Hokkaido salmon, a first-of-its-kind pairing that supports both surface glow and deeper structural resilience. Add biotin for stronger hair and nails, micronized pearl powder for luminosity, and a rich coconut cream base that makes your daily ritual feel indulgent rather than obligatory.
This isn't a supplement you tolerate. It's one you look forward to. Stir it into your morning coffee or matcha and it works from the inside out to build the foundation beauty products can't reach.
Designed for superior absorption, results come faster than traditional collagen. Not a quick fix. A long-term investment in how you look and feel. π§ββοΈβ¨
